I really just don’t run into “left lane bandits” much . Sure every once in a while you get some goof that is just out of it in general (left lane or not) but at least out here it doesn’t seem to happen much. I do see an increasing number of folks that don’t know how to handle 4 way stops, but the solution there is not to wait for them to figure it out and just go - problem solved. Is the whole left lane squatting thing a bigger issue elsewhere?
And I like bagels, especially pumpernickel with a salmon schmear.

167 on weekends or holidays , left lane camper heaven. I think I went around half a dozen on Thanksgiving. 405 can also be a goldmine during low traffic hours.

I was going to post this earlier. I like how Roman describes driving as a COMMUNAL process. That even though we are driving by ourselves, we have to work together. Good stuff.

He mentions “be the change you want to see in the world”. Good advice, because left lane hogs have no right to complain about other left l ane hogs . More often than not, the people tailgating in the left lane, stay in that lane long after intimidating the car in front of them to move right. Everyone who’s not turning left soon needs to get out of the left lane ASAP.
But apply ing that quote to lane discipline comes with an obvious disadvantage. Driving in the right lane invites left lane hogs to take the open space, even if they don’t need it. “Leading by example” is a concept that somehow just doesn’t seem to work in traffic.
There aren’t many ways to get these drivers to get OUT of the left lane without breaking some law ourselves. Tailgating isn’t just inconsiderate or unsafe; it’s failure to maintain a proper following distance. And some states have strict rules about using the horn only in emergencies, and it takes some dubious mental gymnastics to justify one’s own speed as an “emergency” for others to adapt to. And of course there’s the whole thing about it not being our responsibility anyway to “direct traffic”. “Leave it to the cops” as they say.
But where are the cops? We love sharing videos of cops pulling over left lane hogs because it happens SO infrequently. There aren’t enough of them around to herd droves of people out of the left lane, and even when they are around, a lot of them don’t seem to care. I wish there was something that I could do to help, without having to go through all the trouble of becoming a police officer myself and making it my job.

That's why you make others watch it so they will be more thoughtful when driving.

I-65 is a nightmare. First thing people say to me is "the truck drivers are the worse" and I stop them to explain that the truck drivers are doing exactly what they should be doing on a 2 lane interstate and it our fellow drivers that don't understand that they shouldn't tailgate, weave in front of the trucks as if they are holding you up, and not to sit in the left lane as a moving roadblock.

My average commute has abut 75% of traffic in the left lane.
